2025 AAANZ Conference: Unruly Objects will feature a series of panels, roundtables and workshops which centres First Nations thought and modalities. Led by Indigenous Knowledge holders, academics and arts workers based at the University of Western Australia, we will aim to create a space threaded throughout the AAANZ Conference that welcomes unruly, sovereign and Indigenous ways of talking about our art – from the lesser-known histories and stories, to the agencies of our belongings in collections and beyond, to the disruptive and uncontainable qualities of artworks and their political expediencies around the globe. We welcome proposals of any kind from First Nations people interested in participating. These panels aim to push beyond disciplinary and academic boundaries and welcome diverse forms of knowledge and expression.
This open panel stream welcoms all First Nations speakers to apply to submit a panel or to participate in the conference with an idea. The stream is more open-ended than that of the usual panel / application format and will centre discussions between and amongst First Nations participants throughout the conference. If you’d like to participate in a different way but don’t feel there is a panel topic for you, we can also look at curating something more specific. If you do not wish to fill out this form you can reach Jess Hutchens via email jessyca.hutchens@uwa.edu.au or phone 0476591495.
