Lecturer Level B – Art History and Museum Studies
An opportunity for a Lecturer to undertake teaching and research in the discipline of Art History and interdisciplinary field of Museum Studies.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in developing and teaching innovative curricula in Art History (especially Australian and/or international), curatorial theory and practice, collection management, exhibition development, public programs, and museum ethics. You will coordinate the postgraduate Museum Studies program and teach and/or supervise undergraduate and postgraduate courses and research projects in your area of art historical research specialisation. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate specialist knowledge of Art History and Museum Studies, including debates and practices of curatorship, an outstanding track record of scholarly research reflecting international standards, and capacity for attracting competitive grant funding. Candidates must have a PhD in Art History or Museum Studies, and relevant professional experience in the museum or gallery sector.
To be successful you will need:
- PhD Art History plus a qualification in Museum Studies. Alternatively a PhD in Museum Studies plus a qualification in Art History. If not a PhD in Art History, a closely related discipline that combines with Museum Studies is essential.
- Outstanding ability to communicate knowledge about the discipline of Art History and Museum Studies in an engaging manner.
- Knowledge of curatorial theory and practice.
- Excellent research record, with a clear plan for future publication outputs commensurate with and relative to opportunity and ability to attract competitive grant funding.
- Capacity for multidisciplinary collaborative research, including experience working in partnerships with public or private cultural organisations, foundations or publishers.

Fixed term position is available for three years commencing July 2020
This position may be convertible to continuing at the end of the 3 year term, subject to given ongoing need in this area
