The Opportunity

The Department of Fine Art is seeking a highly motivated Lecturer and Senior Lecturer to develop excellence in teaching and research in the area of Fine Art.

We are particularly interested in the following practice-based research foci, which are growth areas in the Fine Art department; art in the public realm, climate and ecologically engaged practices, social art practices, critical computing and algorithmic cultures and queer creative practices. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will be responsible for communicating the value of these practice-based research areas to a broad range of stakeholders, collaborators and publics. Research may be developed as exhibition based outcomes but we also encourage applications from creative practitioners working in allied fields.

In consultation with the Head of Fine Art and Course Director, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will coordinate, develop and deliver curriculum and teaching offerings in the core studio and elective programmes emerging from the workshop areas in the department and/or Faculty. In addition, the Senior Lecturer will contribute to the educational leadership of the department, adept in working with university policy and procedures.

About You!

To be successful in these roles you will need to have a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline area, as well as a demonstrated strong record of teaching experience in a tertiary environment including curriculum development and unit coordination (Level B) / course coordination (Level C). Successful candidates will also have experience with online teaching platforms and their use in facilitating innovative teaching practices. An acknowledged record of research practice in Fine Art, paired with a demonstrated ability to attract funding in the form of competitive grants and other research income is also key to success in this role.
