Deakin is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic in the field of Art and Performance (creative art practice) to join a team of established colleagues.
The Role

The School of Communication and Creative Arts has many dedicated specialist facilities including a professional-standard television studio, sound studio, edit suites, darkrooms, performance and rehearsal venues, art studios, animation, photography and design labs and a motion-capture facility.
As a Lecturer, you will lead teaching across a range of units at undergraduate and postgraduate level (BCA, HONS, MA and PhD) with an emphasis on practice-based research.
Based at our Melbourne Burwood Campus, this full time role sits within the School of Communication and Creative Arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to research projects and collaborations, creating new insights and opportunities
- An ability to supervise or examine honours students, making a contribution to the supervision, management and timely completion of HDR students
- Contribute to the development of course and unit curriculum that exemplifies Deakin’s curriculum framework, and meets external requirements such as the Higher Education Standards Framework and professional accreditation
- Design and implement best practice assessment of student learning outcomes, and participating in assessment panels
- Provide leadership in teaching and learning through roles such as Unit Chair
To Be Successful
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience with or the capacity for Experience of HDR supervision at Masters and PhD level
- Demonstrated commitment and excellence in teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design including online learning, with specialist knowledge of art and/or performance
- Professional experience in one area of creative arts and performance with significant knowledge of or experience in working across one or more other Art and Performance areas
Experience in practice-based research that crosses over non-traditional and traditional research categories would be highly desirable.
