About the Role

The Lecturer: Contemporary Art is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of courses within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The role also contributes independently and as part of a team to the Academic Unit’s research agenda.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver courses on campus, offshore, online or via other methods
  • Work collaboratively and reciprocally with staff in other Academic Units and relevant partner organisations to ensure that courses contain quality content which represents contemporary practice and theory
  • Contribute to research and scholarly activity resulting in quality publications, NTROs and the presentation of conference papers and seminars
  • Contribute to research activity by securing external research funding and building a research portfolio that will support success in national competitive grants
  • Supervise honours or higher degree by research projects to timely completion

Essential Skills and Experience

  • PhD qualification aligned with contemporary art and/or contemporary art experience
  • Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and a commitment to the modern practice of contemporary art
  • Demonstrated capacity and commitment to high quality, flexible teaching and learning outcomes, in both traditional and contemporary modes of delivery
  • Demonstrated commitment to establishing a program of research with experience in writing for publication and/or producing quality NTROs, and experience in the preparation of research grant applications with success in attracting research income commensurate with opportunity
  • Demonstrated ability to develop course materials and educational publications, as well as deliver presentations at seminars/conferences
  • Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team
