This year – 2022 – is the United Nations International year of Glass, which has prompted events all over the world. In Australia, there have been exhibitions, festivals, and educational activities – including the upcoming online conference, GLASS: Vision, Reflection, Imagination, co-convened by the Australian Institute for Art History at the University of Melbourne and GLAAS Inc at Melbourne Polytechnic, Prahran.
Bringing together over 40 artists, academics and museum professionals from across Australasia and South-East Asia (Region 16 of IYOG2022), this online conference explores and challenges our understanding of the role of glass in art, culture, education and society. The event comprises a range of formal presentations, panel discussions, a short films and book launch, and will be held online over three consecutive days: 15 – 17 November 2022.
“Our vision of a United Nations International Year of Glass (IYOG2022) is to celebrate the past, present, and future of this transformative material following the United Nations’ goals in Agenda 2030.” IYOG2022 Mission Statement
You are warmly invited to attend this online conference. The event is free, but registration is essential.
