To coincide with the International Museum Day, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art launched a research platform called The Garage Journal: Studies in Art, Museums & Culture.
An independent interdisciplinary academic journal that publishes original empirical, theoretical, and speculative research in a variety of genres, celebrating innovative ways of presentation. Fully peer reviewed, The Garage Journal conforms to international standards of ethical research. The journal’s editor-in-chief is Vlad Strukov, an associate professor at the University of Leeds (UK). The editorial board comprises world-leading researchers, curators and authors. On the site of the journal call for submissions for four planned issues is available.
Issue 1: ‘Access and Inclusion in Contemporary Art’ (guest-edited by Jonas Tinius, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin)
Issue 2: ‘After Crises: Art, Museums, and New Socialities’
Issue 3: ‘The Museum as a Research Hub’
Issue 4: ‘In and Out of the Museum: New Destinations of the Moving Image’ (guest-edited by Eugénie Zvonkine, Paris-VIII University, and Luísa Santos, Catholic University of Portugal.
Full calls for papers including deadlines are available on the journal site. Submissions from researchers, curators and other specialists engaged in research are invited.
Submissions can be in English, Russian or German in the form of articles, visual essays, data essays, interviews, and archival materials. Proposals for future issues are welcome, too.
