FAQs
Who can register at the concession rate?
The conference convenors are doing their best to make the conference accessible while meeting all our costs. Presenters who are students, health care card holders and/or underwaged artists, arts workers or scholars who don’t have institutional support to attend the conference (from anywhere not just Victoria) are eligible to register at the concession rate.
If purchased before 10 October, the early bird concession rate is just $100. After this date it is $150. This gives you full access to 3 whole days of conference panels, papers and artist presentations, 5 keynotes as well as a catered morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
Is there a postgraduate day?
After feedback from last year’s postgraduate day at the Perth conference, this year’s conference committee decided that it would be better to integrate postgraduate panels and papers throughout the conference program rather than segregate it to a particular day. We have encouraged postgraduates to submit panel and paper proposals and a number have been accepted. Additionally, panel convenors have selected panellists at all stages of academic career.
Additionally, postgraduates and early career researchers are encouraged to apply for the Griselda Pollock masterclass (EOIs due 15 October see above). We will also hold a welcome reception and networking event for postgraduates on Tuesday 4 December from 4:30–6:30pm. More information about this event will be available shortly.
What are the key dates of the conference?
The official conference dates are 5-7 December 2018 which includes a full three days of panel sessions and keynotes. Ancillary events for postgraduates and independent arts workers and artists are planned for 4 December and 8 December. To download the draft program visit this link: https://aaanz.info/wp-content/
Will conference proceedings be published after the conference?
Members of the conference committee are aiming to edit a special edition journal issue or book(s) with peer-reviewed papers from the conference, however, this is still in negotiation and planning. We won’t be publishing conference proceedings because the consensus among the committee is that these no longer count against research outputs as they once did and so not that useful to presenters. We will keep presenters informed about publishing opportunities post conference.
Are we still taking paper or artist session proposals?
The 2018 AAANZ is already over-subscribed and we can no longer consider any further paper or artist session proposals. However, we encourage people to attend the conference as it will be a very stimulating and eventful conference.
