Job | Lecturer in Art History & Museums and Cultural Heritage | University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau

University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Art History & Museums and Cultural Heritage, in a permanent full-time position commencing prior to Semester 1, 2027 (or by negotiation).

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and service within the School of Humanities, supporting the continued development of the Art History & Museums and Cultural Heritage programmes.

Teaching responsibilities will include contributing to a first-year course covering 15th to mid-20th-century art, primarily in Europe and America; an advanced undergraduate course on art curation and collections management; the development of an advanced undergraduate course aligned with the candidate’s research expertise; and a postgraduate course in Art Writing and Curatorial Practice.

The role includes supervision and advising of postgraduate students and contributing to the programme’s strong postgraduate research culture.

You will be expected to maintain an active research programme, with a developing publication record and a clear trajectory for high-quality outputs and external research funding, and to contribute to the academic life of the School.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent position (subject to continuation).

The workload allocation is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service.
