The ANU Art Collection brings together outstanding Australian modern and contemporary art, including a remarkable diversity of artwork by Australia’s First Nations Peoples.
Through its heritage-listed Drill Hall Gallery, ANU delivers a vibrant exhibition program in collaboration with emerging and established artists, curators and collectors.
The 2022 ANU Art Collection Scholarship is supported by Andrew Dyer & Donna-Marie Kelly
The Gallery presents exhibitions drawn from the ANU Art Collection, as well as diverse national and international loans. Internship students, under the supervision of leading academics from the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), make a vital contribution to this work.
The 2022 ANU Art Collection Scholarship has been established by Andrew Dyer and Donna-Marie Kelly to:
• promote the development, study and care of the ANU Art Collection, under the joint guidance of the Drill Hall Gallery team and CASS academics; and
• support talented ANU Master program students throughout their internship year
We invite applications from eligible students in the following Master programs:
• ANU Master of Art History and Curatorial Practice
• ANU Master of Museum and Heritage Studies
One generous annual scholarship of $10,000 – plus an additional tuition fee waiver of up to $7000 in value – is on offer. The goal is to help talented emerging arts professionals to bridge the gap between art theory and arts management, and to support them in gaining the applied work experience that is so valuable to building an arts career.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, you need to demonstrate a desire to complete a 1-year internship (equivalent to 2 x 6-unit courses) at the ANU Drill Hall Gallery; a strong record of academic merit; and an interest in the ANU Art Collection, plus a commitment to pursuing a career in the arts and museum sector.
First Nations applicants are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given preference in any order of merit created for this award, although it is also open to non- Indigenous applicants. Experience working with First Nations communities and collections will also be highly regarded, although not essential.

Applications must include a 500-word statement addressing the selection criteria and two written references, which will be assessed by the scholarship committee.
