Time feels slippery and beyond our control. But through this issue an array of incredible artists, writers and thinkers are offering ways to rethink its framing and stretch its limitations, a pivotal act for those of us who work in the arts.
Announcing Volume Two Guest Editors
Blue Art Journal is pleased to welcome Timmah Ball and Zali Morgan as guest editors of the next Volume. Two Noongar women whose practices cross curatorial, visual art and text-based practices, their Volume features writers, artists and perspectives that span between coasts of so-called Australia. Meet them below.
Selected contributors include: Dominic Guerrera with James Tylor, Sylvia Wilson, Monique Grbec, Cass Lynch, Jayda Wilson, Jazz Money, Mykaela Saunders and many more.
The Volume will be released on the Blue website, for free, at the end of July.

Timmah Ball is a writer, editor, and zine maker of Ballardong Noongar heritage. In 2021 she published the chapbook Do Planners Dream of Electric Trees? through Glom Press/ Arts House and has featured in a range of anthologies such as This All Come Back Now UQP and Best of Australian Poems 2022 Australian Poetry. Most recently she was the managing editor for the award winning monograph Yhonnie Scarce: The Light of Day and her forthcoming short story collection A Map and Other Parts will be released in March 2027 with Pink Shorts Press.
Zali Morgan is a Noongar woman with ancestral connections to Whadjuk, Balladong, and Wilman Boodjar, born and raised near Wooditchup on Wardandi Boodjar, now based near Boorloo. Morgan’s practice spans printmaking, textiles, sculpture, curating, and writing. In 2023, Morgan won the City of South Perth Emerging Art Prize and exhibited in REVEALED (2023) at Fremantle Art Centre. Her work and curation have been shown at Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, Museum of Art and Culture, Lake Macquarie, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Fremantle Arts Centre, John Curtin Gallery, Edith Cowan University Gallery, and Bunbury Regional Art Gallery, as well as at the National Art School in Sydney, NSW.
