The Marylyn Mayo Foundation provides funding for an annual internship at Auckland Art Gallery to develop the skills of people committed to pursuing a career in art galleries and art museums.

The E H McCormick Research Library is the research library at Auckland Art Toi o Tāmaki and is the most significant art library in Aotearoa New Zealand. The 2023 Marylyn Mayo Intern will undertake a collection assessment of the documentation included in the Auckland Art Gallery Archive, specifically the photographic series, held in the E H McCormick Research Library. The intern will be mentored by the Research Library and Archives Manager and work closely with the Librarian/Archivist and Photography team.

The Marylyn Mayo Internship offers training and work experiences to either:

  • Postgraduate or recent graduate students who intend to pursue a career in art galleries or museums in the area of care and management of collections; the presentation, interpretation and communication of the visual arts; or research, access and discovery of collections
  • People currently employed in an art gallery or museum, or who have had some relevant experience and have an ongoing commitment to working in this area and to their professional development
