Position overview

The ANU School of Art and Design is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to contribute to building an ambitious, future-focused design program within a vibrant, top 20 internationally ranked university. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in design practice, teaching and research in a university environment, and expertise in contemporary approaches such as user-centred design, user research, design ethnography, strategic / service design and co-design.

The ANU Design program pursues a practice that is engaged, agile, ethical, transdisciplinary, and inclusive of digital and material processes. It promotes cross-disciplinary partnerships to generate new forms of design practice and research, and supports design scholarship at all levels from undergraduate to PhD. Current research themes include design for digital heritage and humanities, environmental futures, interdisciplinary collaboration, and emergent design practice; the ANU offers an unmatched setting for developing future research projects and collaborations.

The ANU School of Art & Design (SOA&D) is focused on achieving excellence in research and teaching in accordance with its position within Australia’s highly ranked university. The School is seeking a new team member to contribute to the School’s aims through its Design program.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 57 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both. We also host 13 Australian Research Council Future Fellows and three ARC Laureates. A hub of vibrant activity, we host more than 270 lectures, concerts and exhibitions each year, most of which are open to the public.
