Social Impact of Ten Days on the Island Festival in Regional Tasmanian Communities or Practice-based Place-Based Events or Practice

The School of Creative Arts and Media, University of Tasmania and Ten Days on the Island are offering fixed-term scholarships for up to 3.5 years for placed based higher degree research (HDR) projects. The PhD or Masters by research projects will be co-designed with Ten Days on The Island’s CEO and Artistic Director to align with the 2021 Festival.

Ten Days on the Island is Tasmania’s state-wide arts festival with headquarters in Burnie, in Tasmania’s north west. Key drivers for Ten Days on the Island are regionality, place and community with a focus on First Nations’ arts and culture, families and young people, and socially engaged arts practice. The successful candidates will work closely with the Festival’s executive team and be available to work and connect with communities in regional Tasmania.

School of Creative Arts and Media are seeking expressions of interest from applicants with a background in community and cultural development, cultural policy and tourism, to undertake a study of the impact of the Festival in regional Tasmanian communities or from applicants with a professional creative practice in site specific and place-based events to undertake a practice-based research project.
