Contention is dedicated to research on and about social protest and political behaviour. The journal advances essential knowledge on of collective action, social movements, and other forms of social and political contention. By providing a multidisciplinary forum to scholars within and across the social sciences and humanities, it seeks to promote scholarly exchange and knowledge sharing among them.

Contention welcomes all submissions of high quality, including: research articles with novel findings, theoretical and methodological essays, and movement writing, as well as critical reviews, commentaries and book reviews. Contention aims to present original perspectives and points of view across disciplines and areas of investigation. Because of our interdisciplinary nature, we welcome submissions in any standard format for the first round of review.
